Direct Marketing Policy
Asian Review of Social Sciences (ARSS) may undertake direct marketing to communicate legitimate journal information or invite manuscript submissions from researchers whose work is relevant to the ARSS Aims and Scope. Such communication should be appropriate, accurate, targeted and non-intrusive.
1. Scope of Direct Marketing
Direct marketing may include calls for papers, special-issue announcements, journal updates, invitations to submit manuscripts and other communications about ARSS publishing activities.
2. Accuracy and Transparency
Marketing communications must accurately describe ARSS, CRI, the Aims and Scope, peer-review model, publication schedule, Open Access model, fees, policies and current indexing/discovery status. ARSS will not make misleading, exaggerated or unverifiable claims.
3. No Guarantees or Improper Claims
ARSS will not use direct marketing to guarantee acceptance, favourable peer review, unusually rapid publication, citation impact, future indexing or any other outcome dependent on independent editorial assessment or external evaluation.
4. Targeting and Frequency
Communications should be directed to researchers or professional audiences for whom the journal’s scope is reasonably relevant. Marketing should be proportionate, not repetitive or intrusive, and should not pressure recipients into submitting manuscripts or purchasing services.
5. Editorial Independence
Direct marketing is kept separate from editorial decision-making. Whether an author receives, responds to or ignores marketing communication has no influence on peer review, acceptance, rejection or publication.
6. Use of Contact Information
Contact information used for journal communications is handled in accordance with the ARSS Privacy Policy and used only for legitimate journal and publishing purposes.
7. Opt-Out and Complaints
Recipients may ask ARSS to stop sending non-essential direct marketing communications. Operational messages concerning an active submission, review, editorial appointment, payment or publication are not treated as marketing. Requests or complaints may be sent to the editorial office.
