Asian Review of Social Sciences (ARSS) follows a Gold Open Access model. The final published Version of Record is made immediately and permanently available online without subscription, registration or pay-per-view barriers. Readers may access and share published articles in accordance with the journal’s CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 licence.

1. Open Access

ARSS makes peer-reviewed scholarly content freely and permanently available online immediately on publication. Open access supports wider discovery, reading, citation and dissemination of social-science research.

2. CRI Open Access Guidelines

The Centre for Research and Innovation (CRI) supports transparent Open Access publishing, including clear information about copyright, licensing, peer review, Article Processing Charges and Waivers, repository rights and access to published content. Following completion of the journal’s Copyright Form, copyright in the published Version of Record is transferred to CRI under the current journal model.

3. Benefits of Open Access Publishing

  • Broader opportunities for readership, citation and scholarly reuse within the licence terms.
  • Wider dissemination to researchers, practitioners, institutions and the public.

Authors subject to funder or institutional licence mandates should confirm before submission that the ARSS licensing model satisfies those requirements.

All ARSS articles are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International licence (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0). Users may copy and redistribute the unchanged article in any medium or format for non-commercial purposes with appropriate attribution. Commercial use and distribution of adapted, translated or derivative versions require additional permission from the copyright holder.

For articles published in 2026: © 2026 Centre for Research and Innovation (CRI). This is an open access article under the CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 licence. For later articles, the copyright year should match the actual year of publication.

6. Repository Policy

Authors may deposit the submitted manuscript, accepted manuscript and published Version of Record in institutional, subject or other appropriate scholarly repositories without an embargo period. When sharing the Version of Record, authors should retain the complete citation, DOI/permanent link, CRI copyright notice, licence information and acknowledgement of ARSS and CRI as the original journal and publisher. The Version of Record must remain unchanged.

7. Digital Preservation

ARSS states that its published content is preserved through the PKP Preservation Network to support long-term digital preservation and continued access.

8. Gold Open Access and Article Processing Charge

ARSS currently supports Gold Open Access publishing through an APC of INR 3,000 for authors from India and USD 50 for authors from other countries. No submission fee is charged. The APC is payable only after editorial acceptance following peer review. Current fee information should always be confirmed on the ARSS APC and Waivers page.

Payment, waiver, discount or refund status does not influence editorial assessment, peer review or publication decisions.

9. Fee Waivers and Discounts

ARSS currently provides a 50% APC discount for corresponding authors from eligible Research4Life Group A countries, subject to the current Research4Life eligibility criteria at the time of submission/payment.

10. Other Charges and Refunds

ARSS does not currently charge additional submission, page, colour, membership or routine author-facing editorial fees beyond the stated APC. Refunds may be considered where a publisher error prevents publication of an accepted manuscript or duplicate payment has occurred; they are normally not issued after publication processing has begun at the author’s request or where an article is retracted for author-related misconduct.

11. Editorial Independence

Editorial decisions are based on scholarly merit and remain independent of APC payments, waiver status, financial support, advertising, marketing or other commercial considerations.
